curtians from hell

I don't know how but it took me 4 hours,
4 hours non-stop,
to put up fing blinds and curtains.

I'm totally thrilled with the results:

but man I still have 3 more windows
that need blinds and curtains!
Not to mention that I haven't sewn
the curtains to length yet!

Ok, enough complaining..
I put bamboo blinds to give the illusion
that the windows are regular size,
but still let light in during the day.

The curtains were a splurge from Ikea.
($60 for 2 panels!)
I bought some others and tried both,
but I love the way these ones tie
in the tan and greys in the room.

So I sucked it up and split the panels
so at least I only have to buy 2 vs 4

I'll have pics hopefully by summer-
which is when I expect this to be done!

paint therapy or basements are big

We've done a great deal of painting.
I don't really enjoy this task..
but painting over the wildlife boarder
pure therapy!

After spending every weekend painting
the crap out of this place I really
needed something to motivate me to want
to paint an entire basement.

So this is the tan color and boarder
that was there before:

More difficult than painting the basement
was coming up with a color to paint it!
Since it's a basement we didn't want to
go too dark to avoid cave-like atmosphere.
But certainly not white and the tan
the basement had been sporting was not
going to work with my new sofa.

my new sofa!
Another factor was that Husband was intent
on having a grey for around the bar area.
We planned on doing the bar area in
a darker tone than the rest but the
color for the rest of the basement had
to go along with it.
I didn't want grey sofa next to grey walls,
and after looking at every paint sample
home depot had to offer- I finally found it!

We ended up going with a light blue/grey
for the living area in the basement.

I think it complements the furniture well
and really makes it feel cozy.

For the bar the color is almost a slate
grey/blue color that makes the bar
seem intimate, yet doesn't clash with the
wood of the bar area

The one thing we'll change here is
we decided it was silly not to paint the
wall that is right of the bar.
So we're going to paint everything
left of the door frame the bar color,
as well as husbands whole office area

But that is yet another task,
for yet another day

bitchen' kitchen'

finally updates!
SO the kitchen was the first thing to
be painted and beautified in the house.

After trying a good 4 different greens,
apparently 'mint green' is very subjective-
I finally chose a bright almost neony
shade of mint for the walls

From there it was just a matter of
painting the old utensil holder
a bright yellow to match my rug..

and change out those yucky vinyl blinds
and presto- a not so so dated kitchen.

all moved in and no where to go

While moving into your very own
house that you own and can do,
respective to your husbands opinions;
anything you want to-
 is beyond a daunting task.

I equally want everything done right away,
and to run away and pretend it doesn't exist
somehow simultaneously

Yeah, it's awesome but having to live in your
own moving mess sucks the suck.

Here is a timeline of everything
 done thus far:

1. close. yay!
2. start moving stuff in.
3. paint the kitchen a lovely mint green
4. moving party! aka free labor
5. painting party! aka free labor
6. paint the bedroom same grey-
that somehow looks completely different
7. new furniture!
a. ikea bed
b. ikea bar stools
c. ikea closet for husband
d. non-ikea sofa for living room
8. de-wildlife the basement
9. poach wildlife at the bar
10. being done with being productive

I'm going to take this room by room,
1 post a room approach to this.
So get ready to be underwhelmed..
 v  e  r  y    s  l  o  w  l  y . . .

I will however leave you with an
adorable photo of husband and Mollie
in the moving truck!

Mollies face cracks me up every time! She was psyched to move!

checking in

Yay, we finally have internet!
Apparently there is a different
cable box used on the
'other side of the river'

The big move was last weekend
and we're pretty much settled now

I have lots of pic's to share
of all the progress that's
gone on around here

Sadly I've fallen ill and
hardly have the stengh to type
this much less to load pic's.

I'll have them up soon though!
