paint therapy or basements are big

We've done a great deal of painting.
I don't really enjoy this task..
but painting over the wildlife boarder
pure therapy!

After spending every weekend painting
the crap out of this place I really
needed something to motivate me to want
to paint an entire basement.

So this is the tan color and boarder
that was there before:

More difficult than painting the basement
was coming up with a color to paint it!
Since it's a basement we didn't want to
go too dark to avoid cave-like atmosphere.
But certainly not white and the tan
the basement had been sporting was not
going to work with my new sofa.

my new sofa!
Another factor was that Husband was intent
on having a grey for around the bar area.
We planned on doing the bar area in
a darker tone than the rest but the
color for the rest of the basement had
to go along with it.
I didn't want grey sofa next to grey walls,
and after looking at every paint sample
home depot had to offer- I finally found it!

We ended up going with a light blue/grey
for the living area in the basement.

I think it complements the furniture well
and really makes it feel cozy.

For the bar the color is almost a slate
grey/blue color that makes the bar
seem intimate, yet doesn't clash with the
wood of the bar area

The one thing we'll change here is
we decided it was silly not to paint the
wall that is right of the bar.
So we're going to paint everything
left of the door frame the bar color,
as well as husbands whole office area

But that is yet another task,
for yet another day
